Bhutanese washi paper made from mitsumata fibre.
Made by Mr Kandu at Jungshi Paper Factory in Thimpu, Bhutan. Kandu trained in Japan in the art of making the suketa paper moulds used in nagashizuki papermaking. He has made for us the largest size of Himalyan washi paper we have seen, measuring 83 x 125cm – that’s nearly three feet by just over four feet. Bhutanese dekar extra large is made from Bhutanese mitsumata (dekar in local language), a soft, delecate fibre ideal for printmaking.
You can buy just one sheet of any one paper but overall you must buy a minimum of 10 sheets selected from any of the papers in this category.
