Mitsumata pulp is 100% pure bast fibre from the inner bark of Argeli (edgewortia papyfera).   This is a native plant which grows above 2500 meters in the Himalayan forests.  This fibre is a renewable resource.   Plants are cropped above ground level and can be reharvested after 3-4 years.  This fibre has been used in Himalayan papermaking for well over a thousand years.  Mitsumata is the more widely known Japanese name for fibre.

Mitsumata fibre can be used in Western and Asian styles of papermaking.  Traditionally it is used for making a soft, light weight, light toned paper for woodcut printing.
